After the successes recorded in Port Harcourt and Abuja, all roads lead to Ikoyi for #GrillandReadLagos2.

The #GrillandRead Book party train returns to Lagos on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Ethnic Heritage Centre, 35A Raymond Njoku Crescent, Ikoyi from 2pm to 7pm. This time, the party will be built around the theme, ‘Throwback to the Classics”.  This is an opportunity for attendees to come dressed as a classic character in a book or come dressed as themselves.

“We are making this an event that everyone will look forward to. Reading should not be left to intellectuals. Everyone should be able to read for fun,” says Abigail Anaba, convener of #GrillandRead. @anabagail maintains that putting people in proximity to books is the first step in getting them to read. “At every #GrillandRead event, two places where people always converge is the grill point and the publisher stands. You have to have books in order to read them.”

This edition will feature all the regulars that #GrillandRead is known for and a few extras. We are having a talk at this edition featuring a subject that many will find exciting, ‘Overcoming Reader’s Block’, and we have seasoned Speaker, Speech Craftsman and Speech Coach , Chris Nkwocha to do justice to it.

Also to be featured at the Lagos edition is an art exhibition with the works of Toni Kuyinu @tonikuyinu. “We are looking to have as much fun as we can. The ‘Picture This’ segment will have the audience reading his pictures so we can better appreciate what is meant by the expression -a picture is worth a thousand words”,Abigail enthuses.

The Lagos edition is getting the added extra of Travel Writer, Pelu Awofeso @PeluAwofeso featured in the segment ‘The World in Your Hands’. He will be talking about his journey to 18 states in Nigeria as documented in his book, “Tour of Duty”. “I can’t wait to hear directly from Mr Awofeso, his writing is a gem,” Abigail says.

The Guest Author for #GrillandReadLagos2 is Sally Dadzie @mosekedapages, a young author who made recent history by having 150,000 copies of her work downloaded on the Okada books platform. Also expected at the event is Pulse Editor, Zaynab Quadri @Zaynabtyty who set out to read one book from every African country in 2016. We will be learning how far she has travelled on this journey.

Spoken-word and poetry remain a constant feature of #GrillandRead and this time convener of @WORDUP411, Olumide “King Olulu” Holloway is our guest. Also to make a return appearance is #GrillandRead Lagos 1 guest @Rezthapoet.
