The Spelling Bee is a competition designed for students between the ages of 8 and 13 to inculcate the basic imperatives of effective communication, ultimately impacting improved spelling skills, development of poise, increase students’ vocabulary, pronunciation and accurate word usage.

This programme emphasizes the importance of communication because being erudite begins with communication, and communication entails the transaction of ideas, using words and symbols as a fundamental platform.

The Spelling Bee Nigeria is organized by Young Educators Foundation; an NGO that promotes literacy and education, and franchise holders of Scripps National Spelling Bee, USA in Africa. The African national competitions are modeled after the internationally acclaimed Scripps National Spelling Bee and the annual winners have the privilege of attending the Scripps National Spelling Bee Finals in Washington DC, US.

To encourage students to improve on their knowledge and application of the rules guiding the use of English Language
To provide a platform for competitiveness as the only authentic avenue to educational excellence and by extension, a solid foundation for economic liberation.
To understand and know the 13 origins that the English language is derived from and how they affect English pronunciation.

2015 Winner as the Face of Betamalt

The 2017 edition will be having participation from the following states of the federation Abuja, Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Nasarrawa, Gombe, Kaduna.
Young Educators Foundation aims at developing the leadership qualities of tomorrow’s leaders hence the introduction of the mentorship session. A day where renowned personalities and distinguished leaders with positive image from diverse field will be invited to take the finalist through a mentorship sessions, these leaders will be encouraged to adopt mentees from amongst the finalist.

A 1-week all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC USA as a special Guest at the 90th Scripps National Spelling Bee, Scholarship Fund, Travel Allowance, Gold Medallion, Certificate of Participation, and Sponsors Product.
2ND PRIZE:
