The Babishaiku 2016 Poetry Award is looking for Africa themed haiku ( haiku according to dictionary.com means a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, and employing highly evocative allusions and comparisons, often on the subject of nature or one of the seasons….now you get the picture) with clear images, settings and juxtaposition.
Now the award is in two categories:
Category 1 which is open to African poets (living in Africa)
Category 2 is open to African poets (living anywhere in the world)
The top ten will be part of the 2016 Babishai mentorship programme and participate in various festivals across the world.
